Is This Another “School of Rock” Deal?

Nope!  This is a brand new thing.  Just launched in September 2024.

We are a group of adults in and around Westchester County who play an instrument and would like to play in a live band setting — just for fun.  It’s like a Rock Club.  We are self-organized, managed and run.

We’re also sponsored by Westchester’s F’in Best Live Music venue: Lucy’s Garage in Pleasantville, NY.  Lucy’s provides us with XXXXX and the opportunity for members to play live at their Legendary Tuesday Night Jam.

But you say “Anyone can play at the Tuesday Night Jam, right?”  Of course, but we would like the opportunity to rehearse together in groups before going on stage.

This group is not really designed for the professional musician or those who are already very comfortable playing out live.  However, we welcome members of any musical level, but you must be willing to play along with less proficient players.

CONTACT US AT 570-301-6277 IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT JOINING

How Does It Work?

Register on this site and let us know that you are interested in joining, what instrument you play, your level of proficiency, and the kinds of music you like to play.

Depending on how many players are in the group, we try to match them with appropriate “bandmates”.  We don’t need to create full bands because Lucy’s Tuesday Jam supplies the musicians that are missing from any group.  The “band” will then rehearse weekly at Lucy’s at some time from 5-7 pm on a given night.  The schedule will develop as members join and bands grow.  Right now, we have only 1 band of 5 players.

Am I a good Fit for The Brotherhood & Sisterhood of Rock?

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Play an instrument generally found in a “rock” band
  • Play better than “someone just learning” (if Hendrix is 100, we’re talking 15+ maybe?)*
  • For Singers – Can Sing in tune (for the most part)
  • Willing to Commit to Making Rehearsals
  • Open to Playing Music In Various Band Genres

*  If you are a seasoned or professional player and would like to act as a mentor for F.B.S.O.R. please contact us!

What’s The Point Here?

We are attempting to build a community of like-minded amateur musicians who would not otherwise get the opportunity to play out live in a band setting.

Think of it as an adult soft-ball league for musicians.  Bowling?   You get the idea.

F.B.S.O.R. was founded by Ossining native Patrick Della Valle, an attorney and long-suffering wannabe guitar player.

What Does It Cost?

Nothing…right now.

We will probably have monthly dues to cover some expenses at some point.   Most likely it will be for paying the “sound guy” during rehearsals, but until we get this thing off the ground, there is no charge.
